With COVID-19 running rampant throughout the world, we’ve been trying to explore more remote places to avoid the crowds. When we hopped into our van we weren’t really sure where we were going.

When it finally came that time on I-15, we decided on Vernal! I’ve always wanted to stop and stay at Starvation Reservoir and on a whim, we decided to find a camping spot there. (Be sure to check out our Vernal itinerary)

Surprisingly, all of the developed campsites were full, but we got lucky and found a spot in the primitive fee area.

Starvation has 4 areas to camp, we chose to stay at Knight Hollow Campground since it was the only one open.

By the time we got to the actual campground it was dark, so we parked as far away as possible from everyone else and got settled in. When we woke up we had an awesome view of Starvation Reservoir – we were parked 10 feet from the shore!

It was a beautiful view! We parked right on some cliffs. There were some sandy camping spots, but they were already filled.

It was SUPER windy! So we didn’t stay long. We let the kids run around the sand dunes for a while

That wind though...sand in your eyes is not fun.

Check out this sign too!

Knight Hollow Campground is designated for OHV vehicles, so it would be super fun to bring some ATVs or something to race around.
